We Found A Bomb

ww2 bomb shells exacavated during home extension in South East London

Our builders unearthed a surprising secret when their digging went deeper than a meter, revealing a hidden arsenal. The discovery led to the evacuation of adjacent houses in Sidcup as the bomb squad investigated.

Our client Helen, unaware of the danger, had lived above the stash for 30 years. Unaware at the time, Dan and Jay from Momentum Building Co carefully relocated the shells before realising what had been unearthed.

Research suggested the shells might have been 'trophies' from WW2 Arsenal workers or part of the arsenal managed by boys living in nearby hutments.

During WW2, anti-aircraft guns surrounded Oxleas Meadow, defending nearby sites like the reservoir. This history raises questions about the shells' purpose and how they ended up buried in Helen's garden.

Despite delays, Helen decided to proceed with her extension project. The bomb disposal experts confirmed the shells were inert, but the mystery remains unsolved.
